H1 Highlights: Company Wins, Summer Celebrations, and Fresh Faces
23rd July 2024
My journey
Many people “fall into recruitment,” but for me, it was a deliberate choice. During my time at Loughborough University, I started a mini recruitment business after winning a grant from the university’s startup fund. Our business helped students find part-time work, allowing them to choose when and where they worked. We signed up over 5,000 students across Loughborough and Nottingham, providing thousands of hours of part-time work in various roles from delivery driving to event stewarding. We managed a team of 150+ students who worked weekly for multiple clients.
The rewarding and lucrative nature of recruitment, coupled with the control it gave me over my destiny, made me realise it was the perfect career for me. Since graduating, I have spent over four years working in technology recruitment and have loved every moment. I progressed quickly from a trainee consultant to a managing consultant at my previous company, where I was also voted sales MVP in 2023.
Why I love it
Recruitment is fast-paced, and the harder you work, the luckier you get. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of helping clients find their perfect candidates. It’s a relationship-driven industry, and over the years, many of my clients and candidates have become friends.
Did you know?
I played for the AFC Wimbledon Academy and represented my local county until the U17 level. I also ran the 2018 Barcelona Marathon.
After hours…
In my spare time, I enjoy playing football, running, and going to the gym. I am a lifelong Crystal Palace fan and follow them both home and away. I also travel to support England and watched them play across Germany during the 2024 Euros.
