The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Scrum Master to join a large-scale transformation programme within the financial services sector. In this role, you will lead up to two Scrum teams, working across both local and offshore environments, while driving Agile delivery and ensuring Scrum ceremonies and planning activities are delivered effectively.
Alongside your Scrum Master responsibilities, you will work closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams to manage delivery, coach teams on Agile best practices, and support complex change initiatives. Due to the nature of the role, experience managing traditional Waterfall projects and leading teams is also essential.
Responsibilities
- Define and coordinate Scrum roles, ceremonies, and activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work with Product Owners to manage requests, prioritize backlogs, and support teams through change.
- Coach teams and stakeholders on Agile ways of working and improve Scrum maturity.
- Lead hybrid and offshore teams across delivery activities.
- Define project governance, scope, deliverables, and responsibilities across teams.
- Oversee business, technical, organizational, managerial, and financial aspects of change initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, sponsors, customers, and architects to assess requirements and feasibility.
- Support supplier and contract management when required.
- Manage project delivery across all phases, from requirements through launch.
Requirements
- Experience working in wholesale financial markets is required, ideally with knowledge of UK equities or bond settlement.
- Proven experience managing hybrid or offshore teams.
- Experience leading at least two teams.
- Certified Scrum Master with proven experience delivering change in a Scrum Master role.
- Strong experience delivering medium to large-scale projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience across the full project lifecycle: requirements, design, build, testing, acceptance, and launch.
- Experience with people management or direct team leadership.
- Project Management certification (PRINCE2 or PMI) is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with senior and junior stakeholders in a matrix management environment.
