Security Solutions Architect

Our client is seeking an experienced Security Solutions Architect with deep expertise in the Microsoft and Azure stack to lead the design and implementation of secure, compliant, and scalable technology solutions. This role is critical in bridging the gap between security standards and operational execution, translating regulatory and technical requirements into repeatable processes, procedures, and architectural patterns.
You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Service Management, and Platform / Cloud Engineering teams to ensure security is embedded across all layers of the organisation’s technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture & Design
- Design and implement secure solutions across Microsoft Azure and M365 environments.
- Develop and maintain security architecture principles, patterns, and standards aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Provide architectural guidance on identity, access management, network security, data protection, and cloud security controls.
- Conduct security architecture reviews and risk assessments for new and existing solutions.
Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Interpret and apply requirements from frameworks and regulations such as GDPR, DORA ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, and other relevant standards
- Translate regulatory and technical security requirements into practical controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support audit readiness and remediation activities.
Process & Procedure Development
- Convert security standards and architectural designs into operational processes and procedures.
- Ensure alignment between security policies and service management practices.
- Collaborate with operational teams to embed security controls into day-to-day workflows.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align security with broader technology strategy.
- Work closely with Service Management to ensure secure service design, transition, and operation.
- Collaborate with Platform / Cloud teams to implement and maintain security controls in Azure environments.
- Act as a subject matter expert for security across projects and programmes.
Risk Management & Governance
- Identify, assess, and manage security risks across cloud and enterprise systems.
- Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and control improvements.
- Support governance forums and security decision-making processes.
Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure security services, including: Azure Security Center / Defender for Cloud, Azure AD (Entra ID), Conditional Access, and Identity Protection, Key Vault, Sentinel, and other security tooling
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles (Zero Trust, least privilege, defence-in-depth).
- Experience designing secure hybrid and cloud-native architectures.
Regulatory & Standards Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of GDPR, DORA, ISO 27001 etc
- Familiarity with additional frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, and SOC 2 is desirable.
Architecture
- Proven ability to translate high-level security standards into technical designs, operational policies and procedures
- Experience working within structured architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
Collaboration & Communication
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Great to have:
- Certifications such as: Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate / Architect Expert, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer / Auditor
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare and Government).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure CI/CD pipelines.
