Security Engineer – Software Engineering

We’re looking for a Security Engineer who enjoys working deep inside real systems, partnering closely with product and platform teams to turn security findings into robust, production-ready security solutions.
This is a specifically a role for a Security Engineer with a strong Software Engineering foundation / background.
Our client is an IP generating company that create trading strategies worth $millions. Security is at the heart of everything they do and is the most important pillar in their Technology business.
What you’ll be doing
- Work side-by-side with peer engineering teams to design and implement security improvements
- Design and engineer large business critical systems, contributing through code rather than advice alone
- Develop clean, maintainable solutions that strengthen security while respecting performance and reliability constraints
- Take ownership of security initiatives from root-cause analysis through release and validation
- Make sure changes are well tested, clearly understood, and safely rolled out
- Spot trends and recurring vulnerabilities, helping drive longer-term improvements across systems
- Partner with senior engineers to make sound technical decisions through discussion, evidence, and iteration
- Explain risks, options, and trade-offs clearly to both technical teams and wider stakeholders
- Set a strong example of practical, delivery-oriented security engineering
What we’re looking for
We’re interested in engineers with strong security foundations who enjoy collaborating with other technical specialists and delivering real outcomes in production systems.
You’ll likely have:
- Extensive experience building and maintaining production software in complex environments – Python, Go, Rust, C++ etc
- A solid grasp of application and infrastructure security, including how things typically fail in the real world
- The ability to ramp up quickly on new platforms, languages, and architectures
- Hands-on experience remediating security issues in live systems, not just identifying them
- Strong technical judgement, with the ability to balance risk, delivery timelines, performance, and stability
- Confidence working alongside other experienced engineers, influencing decisions through clear reasoning and implementation
- Clear, concise communication and a collaborative, pragmatic approach
