Project Manager – NIS2 Compliance (Renewable Energy)

Duration: 12 months (extensions thereafter)
Location: Hybrid (Leiden 1 day per week)
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our ongoing NIS2 compliance program across multiple European countries. This role will play a key part in coordinating cross-functional and cross-country initiatives to ensure alignment with evolving cybersecurity and regulatory requirements under the NIS2 Directive.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management capabilities with practical cybersecurity knowledge, experience within the renewable energy sector, and the ability to collaborate effectively with international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the ongoing NIS2 compliance project across multiple European jurisdictions
- Manage project planning, timelines, deliverables, risks, and stakeholder communication
- Work closely with cybersecurity, IT, legal, compliance, and operational teams to drive implementation activities
- Support the interpretation and operationalization of NIS2 requirements across different countries
- Track progress, dependencies, and regulatory milestones to ensure successful project delivery
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and reporting for senior management and project stakeholders
- Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and resource constraints where appropriate
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity governance and compliance processes
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in project management, ideally within complex international or regulatory-driven environments
- Experience in cybersecurity projects, with exposure to NIS2 or related cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Previous experience in the renewable energy or broader energy sector
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across multicultural environments
- Ability to work independently while coordinating multiple teams and priorities
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are considered a plus
Location & Working Arrangement
- Candidate must be based in the Netherlands
- Ability to work from our Leiden office at least once per week is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with European cybersecurity regulations and governance frameworks
- Experience managing cross-border projects within highly regulated industries
- Relevant project management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile) are advantageous
